61 Beans Coffee of the Month 61 Beans: March Coffee-of-the-Month
March's 61 Beans coffee, Alto Sajama, is a light medium roast from Caranavi, Bolivia. Our lightest roast yet, it has the unique aroma of vanilla, lime, and jasmine, and a delicate, juicy, floral flavor with notes of orange, coconut, and milk chocolate. This coffee is dedicated to Severo Alverez, president and co-founder of the Alto Sajama co-operative, who died last July en route to La Paz on co-op business.
61 Beans Coffee of the Month Try Our Signature Drinks!
We are currently featuring two signature drinks at the Equal Exchange Café. The Giddy Goat, developed by barista Ariel Aaronson-Eves, is a spicy mocha made with goat's milk, inspired by the legendary Ethiopian goathead, Kaldi, who discovered coffee when he found his goats dancing around after eating a mysterious red berry. The Cinnamon Roll, developed by Miranda Moody, is available as a latte or a steamer, and with the help of butter, sugar, and cinnamon, it tastes exactly like a cinnamon roll!
61 Beans Coffee of the Month 2010 North East Regional Barista Competition
The 2010 North East Regional Barista Competition will be held in Boston from March 18-21. Equal Exchange Café will be represented by barista Miranda Moody. Originally from Jay, Maine, Miranda spent five years living in Los Angeles teaching high school before returning to New England to pursue an M.F.A. in poetry at Emerson College. She has worked in coffee for four years and her favorite drink is a double small americano with cayenne and honey. In her free time, she enjoys rollerskating with her three dogs, making gourmet raw food, and writing. We wish her the best of luck!
